About the trip

This is an off-road train & trail ride trip of medium difficulty, but the program can be adapted to more advanced groups. The idea for this event was to combine technique training and guided trail rides. The off-road training led by 11 time Dakar Rally participant Simon Marčič will include more advanced riding elements specified below. The trail rides will be guided by Simon through diverse terrain, so the participants can apply new skills in practice, while enjoying breathtaking views of beautiful Velebit Mountains.

Program

DAY 1: Meeting in Ljublana, briefing, ride to Velebit Mountains with a lunch on the
way (off-road 60%, tarmac 40%)
DAY 2: training 9-12:30, lunch, training 14-17:30 (tarmac 10%, off-road 90%)
DAY 3: trail ride Velebit Mountains – Ljublana with technique practice, lunch on the way (tarmac 50%, off-road 50%)

Some important tips on safety and training.
Correct standing and sitting position while driving, accelerating and engine braking.
Body balance and dynamic position changes.
Clutch, brake and gas control.
Emergency braking in the field using the rear and front brake.
Advanced driving technique in sand and loose stones.
Driving in a corner with rear wheel slippage.
Avoiding obstacles during climbs and descents.
Working with the suspension and overcoming obstacles.
Learning and improving the jumping technique.

Riding conditions

The way from Ljublana to Velebit Moutains will be a mix of tarmac and gravel and we will partly ride Slovenian TET. Velebit Mountains is the largest, though not the highest, mountain range in Croatia. The range forms a part of the Dinaric Alps and is located along the Adriatic coast. The part of Velebit we will ride through will be mostly gravel and rocky terrain. We will follow carefully selected trails, to gain confidence in riding in the demanding mountain terrain. On the second day of the tour we will spend a night on the beautiful Rab Island, where we will ride in the softer terrain such as diverse type of sand and dirt.
